Terms of Use
Effective date: 17 April 2026
Welcome to Voca (“Voca,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). By downloading or using our iOS application, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.1. What Voca does
Voca is a voice-first journal. You record spoken entries on your device. The app can turn recordings into text, store your journal in the cloud when you are signed in, and (with a paid subscription) generate weekly AI summaries from your transcripts.
2. Account and sign-in
You need an account to use Voca. Sign-in is handled through our authentication provider (email magic link). Your journal data is linked to your account so it can sync across devices.
You are responsible for keeping access to your email and device secure.3. Subscriptions and payments
Voca is free to download. Some features require an active Echo Pro (or equivalent) subscription, including longer recordings and weekly recaps.
Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store.
Subscription management, renewals, and refunds follow Apple’s terms and policies.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and entitlements; we do not store your payment card details.
Free-tier limits (such as maximum recording length) may apply and can change with notice in the app.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use Voca only for lawful personal journaling. You must not:
Abuse, reverse engineer, or circumvent subscription or security features
Use the app to harass others, store illegal content, or violate others’ rights
Attempt to disrupt our or our providers’ services
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or misuse the service.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of your voice recordings and journal content. You grant us and our service providers only the rights needed to operate the app (for example, storing your audio, producing transcripts, and generating recaps you request).
You are responsible for what you record and store in Voca.6. Third-party services
Voca relies on third parties to function, including:
InstantDB — account, database, and file storage for your entries
OpenAI (Whisper) — speech-to-text transcription (audio is sent to OpenAI when you transcribe)
OpenAI and/or Anthropic — weekly recap text generation from your transcripts (paid feature; text only, not your raw audio)
RevenueCat — subscription and paywall infrastructure
Apple — App Store, device platform, and system services
Their terms and privacy policies also apply to their handling of data.
7. Disclaimers
Voca is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, perfect transcription, or specific outcomes from AI summaries.
Voca is a personal journal tool, not medical, mental health, legal, or professional advice. If you need professional help, contact a qualified provider.8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OPOMBO and its affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Voca.
9. Age requirement
Voca is intended for users 17 years of age and older. If you are under 17, do not use the app without parent or guardian involvement where required by law.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
